CASE1
A family with 2 children, father works 40 hours at minimum wage. Assume they own their own home. Working 40 hours at minimum wage £5.80 totals £232 less tax of £21.40 and NI of £13.42 net income is £197.18.
- Working Tax Credit Child tax credit based on Gross annual income £12,064 – £145.07
- Child benefit for 2 children £33.70
- As income below £15,276 family would receive a NHS exemption card (covers dental treatment and opticians etc.)
Total household income for the week £375.95
CASE2
Family with 2 children on jobseekers Allowance assuming they own their own home.
- €385.70 +fuel allowance (€20 for 32 weeks per year) after 15 months.
- Entitlement to clothing and Footwear Allowance - €200 or €305 per school going child (an annual payment).
- Child benefit - €150/€187 per child per month
- Full Medical Card entitlement
CASE3
Family with 2 children working 40 hours at minimum wage assuming they own their own home. Working 40 hours at minimum wage €8.65 totals €346 less nil tax less nil PRSI
- Net income is €346
- Entitlement to Family Income Supplement of €153.60
- Income + Family Income Supplement is €499.60
- Child Benefit €150/€187 per child per month
- Full Medical Card entitlement
